Air Quality Manager / Engineer / Scientist
In the business for over 50 years, ORTECH Environmental is considered a leader in environmental air quality consulting services to industries across Ontario and beyond.  ORTECH is looking for a qualified individual interested and ready for a rewarding challenge to provide senior technical and managerial leadership for the air quality compliance and permitting team in our Mississauga, Ontario office.  This is a senior level position with preference given to candidates with management interest and experience combined with ten (10) plus years of educational/work experience in the field of air quality, compliance and permitting of industrial facilities with experience in the development and permitting of renewable projects (e.g. wind, water, solar, biomass/gas) an asset.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

•    plan, coordinate and assign technical tasks to a team of engineers and scientists executing air quality projects for a wide-range of industrial sectors
•    work with the team to ensure scope, schedule and budget milestones are met for a variety of air quality projects     
•    oversee all technical aspects to ensure QA/QC procedures are followed
•    manage and execute technical tasks in support of air quality projects as needed
•    write or peer review technical reports
•    communicate (written and verbal) with regulatory agencies, public and other stakeholders
•    sustain intimate knowledge of the Ontario and federal regulatory framework impacting industrial compliance and permitting projects
•    oversee financial performance and administrative management of team such as hiring, performance reviews, etc.  
•    with the support of the ORTECH Director of Corporate Business Development, lead business development activities
•    follow ORTECH policies and procedures and client specific safety protocols
•    participate on ORTECH’s senior management team

Qualifications:

•    post secondary education (college or university) in engineering (environmental, chemical, mechanical, electrical) or science (meteorology, atmospheric, environmental, physics, mathematics) or related field
•    ability to manage a team reporting to you that are working on multiple projects simultaneously
•    attention for detail to ensure a high degree of quality assurance and quality control
•    strong aptitude for problem solving and proven ability to meet deadlines
•    excellent computer and analytical skills
•    a valid driver’s license as position may require some travel
•    experience in expert testimony related to air quality projects
•    an understanding of renewable energy project development, permitting and operations an asset
