ORTECH has the experience and processes to help you efficiently obtain Renewable Energy Approval (REA) permits.

Ontario's Green Energy and Green Economy Act (2009) changed the way in which renewable energy is permitted in the province. The new Renewable Energy Approval (REA) combines the requirements of the Ministry of the Environment (MOE) and the Municipal Planning Act together to create one seamless, streamlined process. This change has created a variety of new requirements for various projects.

The new REA process can be challenging to navigate, particularly for developers with projects of differing technologies.

ORTECH has a long history of permitting. We have conducted comprehensive environmental assessments for over 40 years, with active involvement in the design and conduct in the following areas:

Since 2000 ORTECH has completed over 1200 Certificate of Approval (CoA) applications. This is important because the new REA process mirrors the Ontario CoA process. ORTECH can help clients with:
