Renewable Energy Project Management
|
ORTECH provides complete project management services for Wind/Solar/Hydro-electricity projects and employs a strict project management process to ensure projects are completed on time and on budget.
Components of our Project Management approach:
- Define the Scope and Objective
Scope defines the boundary of the project. First we fine tune the scope and discuss the strategy around its completion. - Project Planning
Planning requires that the technical project manager decides which people, resources, and budget are required to complete the project. - Communication
Plans are communicated effectively to the project team. - Tracking and Reporting Project Progress
ORTECH will monitor and compare the actual progress with the planned progress. - Change Management
ORTECH manages changes by early notification to the project owner, together with recommendations. - Risk Management
Plans must be made to avoid risk. If risk cannot be avoided, it is mitigated to lessen its impact if it occurs.
Wind, Solar and Hydro-electricity Projects:
ORTECH has a proven approach that has been use successfully to develop renewable energy projects. The approach consists of breaking the project into a series of concurrent engineering and business parts that allow a logical division of labour, with each part reporting directly to the technical project manager or the executive team.
Project Components:
- Project Management,
- Procurement (including equipment selection) and Construction,
- Civil / Foundation Planning and Design,
- Resource Assessment,
- Environmental Permitting and Stakeholder Consultation,
- Legal, Contracts and Land Control,
- Public Relations,
- Project Economics, and
- Other Miscellaneous.
Project Experience:
- Currently, ORTECH is project managing the 300 MW Wolfe Island Shoals project by Windstream Energy.
- Xeneca Power Development Inc. (2007 to present): Xeneca has seconded an ORTECH staff member to oversee technical project management of 32 small waterpower projects, of which 19 have received FIT Contracts.
- Xeneca Power Development Inc. (2008 to 2009): Xeneca retained ORTECH for the environmental permitting of McGraw Dam, a 2 MW waterpower project near Thunder Bay. ORTECH successfully completed the permitting process in August, 2009. The project is now fully permitted and ready to construct. It recently received a FIT Contract.
- Canadian Renewable Energy Inc. (2001 to 2004): CREC seconded ORTECH staff members to develop wind and waterpower projects. During the engagement, ORTECH staff oversaw the development of 3 waterpower projects and the successful permitting, development, construction and operation of the 3.1 MW Misema Generating Station.
- RMS Energy (2007 to present): ORTECH staff was seconded to oversee all aspects of project development, construction, and operation of the 51MW Dalhousie Wind Farm in Nova Scotia, commissioned in February, 2010.
- Various (2001 to present): ORTECH has completed numerous projects related to renewable energy projects, including economic analysis, bid submissions, grid submissions, and environmental permitting for numerous wind projects.
