Solar Resource Assessment

Solar resource information is used to estimate the amount of solar electricity or thermal energy that can be generated in a given area. Seasonal, daily, and shorter-term fluctuations in the solar resource are the nature of the sun and the weather. Therefore, understanding the available solar resource helps to predict how solar systems, both photovoltaic (PV) and concentrating solar power (CSP) technologies, interact with the electric grid. Further, solar resource studies consider the technical and economical potential of different solar electricity generation technologies, based on geographical and country specific data.
